EGR Removal

Got it done today... bolts came out super easy. Warm engine, a little wd-40, soaked for 30 min, they came out with a ratchet... easy job. took about 2 hrs.

The bolts they are talking are in the exhaust manifold, on the top where the pipe runs from the manifold to the egr cooler,

Mine came out super easy, truck only has 33k on it when I did that so it wasn't a big deal. Exhaust bolts are unpredictable.

i always recommend spraying all the bolts of both pipes , multiple evenings in a row before doing this job. the bolts are small so if they are crazy tight, you have a much better shot vs. breaking one off. that being said, when they are stubborn , rock them clockwise and back not using alot of force.

Got them. I've sprayed all the bolts down twice tonight so far with PB blaster. Going to spray them a couple more times tomorrow before I tear into them.

Just an FYI, I just put the egr back on my 11 yesterday. Truck has 99k miles and the egr has been off since about 40k miles. I took my baby impact and bumped them on tighten a few times. Then I put it on about 3/4 power and backed them out with no issues. Cold truck with nothing sprayed on them. Also never hurts if you take a punch or something and give them a good whack on the head.

Mine came out fine. Especially the one that wasn't in all the way!! On the long tube I only had one bolt holding it in while the other was just dangling. When I removed it it showed a bolt broke off in there. Someone at the dealership really screwed the pooch on this.
