Damn I can't wait to build mine! Looking good!

I want to build one like these

http://www.cmtruckbeds.com/pages/er_model.html

or

http://www.cmtruckbeds.com/pages/sk_model.html

I really like the hidden hinges on the SK boxes I need to figure out how to do that. Since the truck is going to get air ridden I wont need the trough or the dovetail end of the bed. I want the bed to sit low enough to when the air is all out the tires will damn near be touching the underside of the bed.[/QUOTE]

I love the 2nd one!

its about 1" higer than the 3rd brake light, it is a bit tall but once i put lights up in there and work lights it will close up pretty quickely

I use to build truck beds a few years ago. Looks like some top notch quality you got there.

Looks good!! I built one like this for my 450 bout 2 years ago. Just finished up another for my uncles 350 chassis cab with 2 under bed boxes and 4 mounted above the bed. Might be building another one soon for a friend for hauling hay.

Hidden hinges...

http://www.abctruck.com/bodies.php?body_cat_id=1&body_subcat_id=26&model_id=78&act=features

I wonder if I scrounged a few sets off some wrecked trucks, just use the door hinges...

I am trying to think of ways to make it look like there are not any boxes on the side of the truck, basically to where the door goes over the whole side and there is just a very clean seam in front of the wheel well and behind. Electric poppers on the doors so there are no door handles. oh yeah and double seal the lids.

Jeez Nick, you have no idea how bad I wish you were closer. This is what I want exactly. But I don't want to pay someone to make it for me. I want to do it myself.

So you want another man to be closer to you...but you don't want to pay for what you can do yourself....know how I know you're gay? LOL

Let me rephrase LOL

I wish he was closer so he can build it. Or help me. I can weld, but not good enough to build this comfortably. And I can't afford to pay someone to build it. Damn high school budget.

Nick, How much more would it cost for a shop to build something just like this? I saw material was around $1500, but I have no clue how much a shops labor rate could be, or how many hours this takes.
