fuel gauge not working

I had a 1/4 tank of fuel i went to work when i got out of work my fuel light came on i thought it was weird so i went and put in $30 and my gauge didnt move and the fuel light is still on so i unplugged the sending unit and plugged it back in still guage says empty and light comes on. any ideas?

Most likely a sending unit. With the rite scanner you can do a gauge sweep to verify the gauge is good.

Had the same issue with mine, I was told it's the fuel level sending unit inside the tank. Here in TX it gets stupid humid and when you're under 1/4 tank the unit is exposed and the humidity can eventually cause that to fail. I try to fill up before I hit 1/4 tank and haven't had problems since.

yeah it just randomly started working again idk i got a back up one for 10$ at the junk yard just incase
