Thought of you when I read that post you quoted.

Just read through IG though. Seems it's in the body shop. For a lift and wheels and tires that big she spins both rears. I don't thing there's any engine problems. Seems it's getting some body work done though.

Hopefully getting a newer bed to match the front end conversion. I can't for the life of me understand why people will dump 10s of thousands of dollars in a truck and not spend a lil bit extra and make it look right.

There were a couple posts about it not running right through.

That's what I said too, he did say the paint is extremely hard to match

I wish I knew why that bother you guys so much! The paint hides it very well to start with and you don't even notice it unless you know it's there or look straight at it. There's nothing wrong with that bed either so why waste the $1500+ on a new bed just so the curve matches. Then the cost of the paint work. All to replace a bed that there is nothing wrong with to start.

On the flip side of that coin. If you're going to all that trouble and work to do a nose conversion and full paint why not spring for a new bed so that it looks proper.

Skins for an 11+...no bed needed.

I think I liked the '05-'07 front end on it better than the new one, but still a good looking truck. Neat color too; very unique. Reminds me of my old orange truck; looks like they have about the same amount of pearl.

True. But those are also more labor intensive. I'd be willing to bet that the cost of the skins along with the added charge for labor from the body shop would equal out about the same as a new bed.

You're kind of contradicting yourself. There was nothing wrong with the front end either. It just goes back to personal preference. If I was going to spend a few thousand on a front end replacement, 7-8k on wheels and tires, 3k on a lift, 5-7k on engine work, and thousands more on paint and everything else I would want to do it right and drop 2k more on a bed so it actually looks like a 11+. And I'm just guessing on prices.

That's exactly how I feel. If it were mine it would drive me crazy that it doesn't have the correct bed. Especially since he had it repainted again that's when I would've swapped it. But it's still a nice looking truck.

And let me say that I'm not putting him or the truck down. It's a nice truck and I think it's cool he did most of the work himself in his driveway.
