Gear swap question

For those that have done a gear swaps have you needed to buy a shim kit to get the backlash set properly? I will be swapping out Ford gears with Ford gears, it's been my experience in the past on 8.8 gear swaps that I never needed any shims. One other thing is I will be installing Trutracs front and back as well not sure if this will make a difference.

This will be on my '08 F250.

FWIW i did not need a shim kit when I installed my detroit, however I did not swap gears

Yes, get the pinion & carrier shims, you will never get it set perfect reusing the original shims.
