Doesn't really matter what IPR percentage is. When the PCM doesn't see 500psi cranking it keeps ramping up the IPR until it reaches 84 percent and the engine starts. Unfortunately the IPR position isn't monitored so we cannot verify quickly whether its actually closed or not without some more intrusive diag or disassembly.

So when your reading your IPR percentage with a scan tool thats what the PCM is calling for? Theres no real way to tell if its doing its job then without manually applying voltage to the IPR valve and pressure testing the system?

It was the ipr valve guys. Had some debris in it causing the valve to stick open.

fixed on the cheap then? best way.


unless the dealer did it (1000$ with diag). same thing in my truck 2 years ago, but i replaced it. sadly i didn't really know what i do now. but we live and learn.
