Hey guys,

Got a buddy with an 07 thats been having a hard start issue the past few weeks. The truck, when cold, will crank for 5-7 seconds or so before it starts. Once it starts, it runs fine- no miss, lope, smoke, etc. Just cranks for a long time. He took it to Ford the other week and of course they said nothing wrong, it cranks within the allowed time. I got a chance to look at it today and checked the glowplugs, GPCM, FICM. Everything read what its supposed to. Could stiction be the cause? Everything Ive ever read involved the truck running like crap as soon as it starts, which this one doesnt do.

Any insight?

Could be battery's, sticktion.. Just because the FICM reads 48V doesn't mean it's good.. Are you able to read codes?

Does the truck have the updated stc fitting? Proper oil level?

You would have to remove the high pressurr oil pump cover to see if it has the updated fitting. I doubt the stc is the issue usually thatll give a no start. Im kind of doubting its a HPO leak, how cold out is it?

Well today its close to 70. But it drops to 50 or so at night. So really not extremely cold, just when the truck is at ambient temperature. Dont have an oasis, but can swing by the dealer and pull the records.

Nope. Only thing is long cranking when cold. Drives fine, can shut it off once warm and it will start ffine as long as the block is still warm.

How did you check the glow Plugs?

:whs: Those temps are pretty warm for even a 6.0 to act up.. Could be the GP circuit isn't working properly.. Even if you had injector sticktion, it would start fairly quickly and run rough/smoke for a little bit and then smooth out but you say that you drive it right away and it doesn't miss so my money is on a faulty GP circuit.. Unless your battery's are not producing what they should of course..
