Help 6.0 gets hot looses power

Step son at college stations 6.0 has started having problems. I havn't looked at it yet but according to him it gets hot and looses all power and hr found oil splatter under hood around turbo area. Would turbo cause this and will a 7.3 factory turbo fit a 6.0 as I have a spare 7.3 for my truck. Trucks been bullet proofed and I know little about 6.0 as I have 7.3

A 7.3 turbo will not work. There are several things in that area that couldd leak oil, most likely would be yhe cac boot, and that would not cause a lack of power unless it completely blew off, but that would cause issues at all times, not just when hot. You are probably going to need to get a scanner on it and pull codes. Could be anything from oil related to sensor related.

A sticking turbo could cause this though too.
