ok I have a early 2004 ( call it 2003) f250 and I got a scan gauge and am seeing some decent difference between eoc and ect like 20 degrees running around town. not noticing any leaking and no residue at degas bottle. I need to check my temps on a cold motor, to make sure not a sensor issue.
and on to the questions, I have been looking and finding conflicting or confusing info.
I would love to replace the oil cooler with the bpd set up/ money wont let it happen right now.
I read there is a new oem style oil cooler, what is up with this, is it better/ last longer?
what kind of life are people getting with oil cooler replacement/ im seeing 300-50000?
guessing I need to flush and replace thermostat.
dumping my money into a head gasket stud kit, with bpd egr cooler and associated pieces. maybe if I can get 50000 out of this cooler I can then afford the bpd set up.
I also see other cooler replacement systems, any ideas, seeing mixed reviews

any and all input appreciated

Throw a coolant filter on there to help. It's a toss up on actual life time of oil coolers, there's no "set" life span. It all depends on how well the truck is taken care of. BPD or even MPD's oil cooler delete is the actual ideal "fix" IMO for this.

I would start by changing out your t-stats and flushing the system with some good coolant and see what it does.
