hey guys I'm having some issues with the truck due to tranny temps and power loss so I'm looking at regearing. I'm trying to double check and I thought my truck ( 2000 F350, 7.3 srw 4X4 ) had the sterling 10.25 rear axle, but after looking on all the gear websites they're saying it's a sterling 10.5??? is there any truth to this? I don't want to order the wrong installation kit so any help is greatly appreciated.

also, I'm going from a 3.73 on 40" tires to a 4.56 on 40" tires, what kind of tranny temps should I expect to see ? right now with 3.73's not getting onto it just normal driving I'm ramping up to 200-220* ( OBVIOUSLY I know this isn't right nor is it good )....a little help from the more experienced here...

10.25 and 10.5 use the same gears if I remember correctly. Sounds like a good combo, temps should go back to 180. Call Adam at drivetrain America he hooked me up when I did my gear swap. I would consider running factory 4.30's tho and he has those.

all the research I've been doing has been pointing me to the 4.56's to get my power curve and performance back so that's why I'm leaning towards them....and i'm getting front and rear gears for 200 bucks....also why I'm leaning that way lol. thank you for all the info though, great help!

My understanding is the 10.25 came in the obs abd the 10.5 came in the superduty
