CAT stopped making on -highway motors in 2008. All the CAT trucks on the road now have "2007" motors pre - emissions. That's why I was asking, maybe they had another CATastrophe motor up their selves.

My understanding was that the IH Maxxforce 15 is a joint venture between Cat and IH... essentially a 3406 from the head down. I would expect these trucks to have a yellow motor in them.

I think my pull truck would have an easier time towing the dump... the 3306 is very reliable though

Probably based on the C13 which was a pile in itself. IH really dropped the ball with the emissions stuff. I know most of the people in my family are trading in their +07 Internationals for Freightliners with the Cummins.

Luckily big trucks tend to keep a long time when spec'ed right. The newest one I have is an '05 with the C15 (last year for the american class interior too.) and I've still got a 1979 359 knocking around that my grandfather bought new with the 3406A. I feel sorry for the trucking outfits that go through trucks every 5-7 years. Making money is hard enough with the slim profit margins they have without having to worry about your truck breaking down every other week.

Ok guys I have a question for those of you who have been around Flow Boys/belt floor trailers. I am looking at getting one and I have noticed some have a tailgate with air cylinders that raise real similar to an end dump and some don't, it almost looks like they don't have an opening gate at all? Or does it open just like the others but without self lifting? I am looking to haul topsoil and mulch mostly. I would like the most versatile one.

Here is the style that I don't see as having an actual tailgate. Does that wall in the rear raise up high like the air lift ones?

Here is the style with the lift gate im talking about. What is the difference between these two styles?

Seeing a local cop get put in his place over the phone by a state trooper, while i was getting pulled over for no license on the semi I was driving. the look on his face was priceless.

There is a set of statutes that allow trucks attached to forage trailers to not be licenesed. It essentially classifies that truck like a tractor pulling a forage wagon. God I love wisconsins DOT way of thinking. It was also this trooper that showed us the statutes. There are good cops out there.
