I have a 2008 f250 6.4 auto bone stock except for cold air intake with 78,xxx miles. I have some strange issues going on, I have a check engine light coming on when my fuel gauge is between 3/4 and 1/4 full and it is on from first turning the key on (engine not even runnin), I have taken the truck to the dealership and they said it was a clogged dpf, If it was a clogged dpf wouldnt the light stay on, and engine have to be running? The truck never goes into "limp mode" Also the "premium care warranty" will not cover the replacment dpf due to me having a afe cold air intake.

Also the 4x4 works fine if you mechanically engage the hubs but they will not lock in automatically. I have had that issue "fixed" several times, but it never will engage when I need it.

And the airbag light comes on, stays on sometimes and flashes sometimes.

Any advice about any of the following subjects lol?

Put the stock intake back on and try another dealer.

I had an '01 that the airbag light did the same thing - on sometimes other times not. It did it more when it was cold out and it was a pinched wire or the sensor was bad. I never fixed it as I didn't care that much and am just going by what the mechanic said was the most likely cause.

If the sensors are installed properly your warranty must be honored. Go to the website of the company that makes your intake and they should have the info.

Wrong.

Aftermarket intakes can skew the MAF signal, which is one of the parameters used for regeneration.

Been there, done that, had it denied on prior approval for that exact reason.

Put the stock **** back on and try another store.

Thanks guys. I will try putting the stock intake on and going elsewhere.
I am not sure if the truck has been updated or not. But no the truck doesn't go in to regen that way.

Guys I appreciate all the help. Keep the help coming. I can give the vin number if anyone can help with a report?

Re: Hey bud

:whs: Yes are there any code's????
The new ford system will store hard faults,it will be stored in memory.
even if someone did clear it there would be a p1000 code.If you have a scanner that you can watch live data.check your EP pressure if it reads more then 35psi
then that dpf need's to be clean or replace.i use a ford vcm2 ids to do a manual
regen. to help clear the dpf.

Re: Hey bud

Like all the rest..put your stock intake in and drive it to another dealer.
Aftermarket intake are good! don't get me wrong.what happens with some intake filters is that oil in the filter its self coats the map sensor inside.sometimes it will set a dtc in most case's. how many miles are on the truck???

As stated, put the stock intake on, and on top of that, leave it on there if you are going to keep the dpf on the truck.

Also, the 4x4. Turn your knob and make sure the vacuum pump kicks on and runs, it is right above your fuse box under the hood. If it is, then there is a solenoid type deal on the passenger side of the radiator shroud that has a plug and two vacuum hoses running to it, I would bet that it is bad (~$80).

according to that, the warranty doesnt cover the dpf anyways.. so not sure why they said its because of the intake.

but, as for the dpf itself. if i recall correctly, there is a warranty on the dpf for x amount of years and up to 100,000 miles. i have paperwork in my truck on it, because i thought i had an issue with my dpf and i have the xtracare warranty and the dpf isnt covered under that one either. I can go look tomorrow when im out and about for the paperwork. im pretty sure i have something stating it, or i found it online. i cant remember. someone might disagree with me though, but im possitive i read it somewhere.

One of the 08 companys trucks had a s&b on it and it clogged up the dpf and did exactly what your talking about with the check engine light. Got a delete kit an tuner for it... no more problems

Its probably neither, its probably going to be that same solenoid. Passenger side of the radiator shroud. Your CAC pip runs by it. 1 plug and two vacuum hoses

Ok guys time for an update. I have recently tuned the truck (spartan) and went with a downpipe back 4" proflow exhaust.

I still havent resolved the 4x4 problem. If I take the truck to the dealership to get the 4x4 problem looked at will I need to return back to stock? Or is it a "only if the tuner causes the problem" type deal?

Depends on the dealer. Most will overlook a programmer on something like that.

Did you ever try the solenoid replacement?

No I honestly haven't had time. We bought a new house and are still trying to get settled in. I have the extended warranty so I figured they could foot the bill.
