I can't express how much I hate ABS brakes!! Are there any aftermarket devices or tuning options to get rid of them without causing issues?

Bypass the abs pump ports if u dont want any dash lights. Or unplug a front wheel sensor to quickly disable abs for off road needs, you will get a warning on the dash this way.

If you don't mind me asking. What are you doing with the truck to hate ABS brakes so much?

Not to steal your thread, but if you disable ABS will it also turn off the advance track b/s that can't seem to be turned off with the traction button?? I get so pissed off when I hold the button until the dash says everything is off and then as soon as the truck gets sideways it flashes the traction light and shuts down power!!! Complete bs in my book. Off should be off. Sorry for the slight rant.

I've seen references to using a relay triggered by an upfitter switch to ground/ disable the ABS circuit. Don't have any other info, but maybe someone here can describe the steps.

FWIW,
We've had trucks (durmax, dodges, and fords) on the dyno and they'll defuel from the ABS system. Mainly newer trucks will do it. We just pull the abs fusees and it cures it.

All it takes is a small bit of ice under one wheel and no brakes! I call it Jesus take the wheel. Unless you've experienced it, it's probably hard to understand. I've been in many situations where the ABS takes over and you aren't gonna stop till the system decideds to stop turning the tires - where otherwise - you'd stop immediately if the other three tires kept braking. I was talking to a guy that drove through his garage door because of it. He pulled into his driveway like normal, one of the front tires hit some thin ice on a mud puddle, ABS says "no brakes for you today buddy" and through the door he went.

Aside from my obvious gripe, I never found them to be of much use. Must be all the Dukes of Hazard I watched growing up.

I've owned a few pre-ABS vehicles and agree, if you know how to drive, not having ABS can be nice.

But claiming ABS caused him to crash his truck into the garage, there's a whole truckload of flags coming your way right now:

Intercept the abs wire to the front drivers side tire, wire it to a normally CLOSED relay and use an upfitter to power ON the relay to OPEN the circuit, essentially disconnecting that abs sensor.
No company in their right mind would make this as a kit for liability and lawsuit issues.

I think you are a little quick on raising that flag. I didn't see it in person so it isn't my BS if it is. I give it some credit since it came from the service manager at the dealership I was talking to on a how to disable my ABS. I can tell you with absolute certainty that I've been on a slight grade traveling at a walking pace where only one tire got on an icy rut and I had to ride it out to the bottom of the hill. Actually gained speed! More than once! Now I suppose if it were my driveway and there was a garage door there the ABS would have done something different.... Right? Have you ever even driven on ice or snow?
