how much to cut springs?

I want to cut my stock coils to lower the front and remove the rear blocks, how much would I have to cut them to sit level? I was thinking 3/4 of a coil? 08 CC dually 4x4.

stock coils have an end tapered to sit in the pockets at each end from what I have noticed

so be careful with anything you do

My reg cab and my 08 had cut coils.


The first half a coil will not lower the truck because of the taper at the top like stated.

Half a coil it's about an inch.

Just cut a little at a time and try it. Also after you cut it and install it go drive it around the block too settle the suspension.

I cut 7/8 of a coil off the front and took out the rear blocks, that lowered the front 1 3/4 and rear 2"

Thanks, I wanted to pick up some 4800 springs locally, there is a bunch of 4x4 performance shops in town. I figured someone would have some laying around from a lifted truck, but getting them to answer the phone or call back is about impossible.. So I got impatient and cut them.. Now I need to pick up a set of bilstiens..
