Indexing Piston Rings

How are you all indexing the rings on the pistons?
Ready to install mine and thought I would ask what the train of thought is on this.

I don't have a manual either never read one before.

What I did was clock them about 90 degrees from each other. I think the top ring had a pin in the piston so it could only go one way but I might be wrong. It's been 2 years since I put my motor together. Just be sure none of them are directly lined up more than anything.

I place the 2 top rings between 2-3 o'clock and 9-10 o'clock. Almost put the gaps 180* from each other just a bit towards the top of the block.
