Any pics yet?

finally, I keep my truck in a storage facility and haven't been over since mowing season ended, but I did today finally

I liked this kit because it allowed you to change the mounting direction so it would clear the brake booster housing.

I purchased just the canister they use. It is manufactured by Mann-Hummel and the model is Provent 200. Cost was around $140 shipped. It is working great so far. Here is how I mounted it.

Please more info on your setup. So it reroutes back to the intake?

Yes.

Get...
-12ft of 3/4" hose (cut in half)
-6" of 1" hose (cut it in half)
-two 3/4" to 1" hose adapters
-one 3/4" to 3/4" hose adapter
-one 90* 3/4" hose elbow
-hose clamps

I made the aluminum bracket myself, but you can get creative there and use whatever you would like to mount it.

Flip the CCV doghouse around just like you are doing the normal vent-to-atmosphere CCV mod. Run the hose up over the brake master cylinder and down the frame (takes about 6ft of hose). Mount the canister wherever you would like and attach the hose to the IN port. The ports on the canister are 1" so this is where you will need to use the 3" piece of 1" hose adapted to the 3/4" hose coming from the CCV doghouse.

Connect the other 3" piece of 1" hose to the OUT port and adapt it to the remaining 6ft of 3/4" hose. Run this back up to the intake. You will need to connect the 90* 3/4" hose elbow to the intake tube and then connect the 3/4" hose coming from the canister to that.

That should be all there is to do. Hopefully my instructions are clearer than mud.

Thanks.

After going on Mann-Hummel's site, a Provent 400 is better suited for a modified truck. Just need to find a Provent 400 at a good price.

Billy,

The Provent 400 canister is 7.5" wide and almost 12" tall. The inlet and outlet ports are 1.5". I don't know if you will be able to find a place to mount that canister, and I think it is a bit overkill for our trucks.

Check out the size comparison.

Is there a valve that you can put on the bottom of the canister for draining? How often do you drain it?

Yes. You can put a piece of hose on there and install a drain valve. I just have a nipple over the end until I find a valve I like.

It would be a good idea to drain it every oil change.

Sorry to bump an old thread as I am planning on doing the pro-vent myself. But cant justify spending $400 on BD's kit - although it's nice and pretty.

I found the ProVent 200 for $125:

http://www.republicsales.com/prodcat/MANN-FIlters-Provent-200.asp

And if you want to use the same hoses as BD, get em both for about $15:

I just need to fab up a similar bracket, as I like the way it mounts to the doghouse. And get similar specialized bolts to secure onto the doghouse.

Found Racor 6000 series CCV kit for around $200 which is comparible to the Proven 400.

I temporarily attached it the existing 3/4 hose.

Looks good. Did you have to drill holes in the frame to mount it? Does it sit below the cab at all so it is visible when looking at the truck from the side?

If you look behind the canister, there is an angle bracket that I re-used . I weld a cross piece to the angle bracket. You need the angle bracket to clear the E-brake cable.

I have the factory cab steps and you can't even tell the canister is there.

Very nice.

Yes, I had to make a bracket for mine so it would clear the e-brake cable as well. You can see the cable going between my can and bracket.

Hmmm , well since my machinist got stupid with the hone I have more blow by with this new engine . I've built several catch "tubes" but they are big and bulky under a crew cab shorty . I've been using the racores that come with the C9 packages that we build here at work . I figured having caterpillar on it it would be $$$$ .
Have to look into the little filter the op is using .
