Looks great, Charlie! I know you're getting excited!

I'm interested in what you have planned for traction, mainly because I'm in the same boat with mine. I don't have issues with traction at WOT from a roll, but a boosted launch isn't an option. I'm still running factory wheels, thinking about either gonna with some 20x10s to keep the tires from sticking too far out or tubbing it and putting some mammoth wheels on the rear.

I love how clean my truck looks, I don't want to change the front profile by having wide wheels and tires sticking out.

I LOVE the way your truck looks. Mine will look very similar. I know it must seem like I am copying you, but I started this project 3 years ago.

When I started this venture I had decided I wanted to try and compete in the super street class which requires keeping the factory leaf springs. At that time it seemed like low 10s or high 9s would be competitive. 1000hp at 5500-6000lbs would have put me well into the 9s if I could keep traction on this 2wd truck. I had planned to run slicks, caltracs, and a few leafs removed for the track.

So fast forward 3 years and guys are getting down into the low 9s in the super street class and i think I have decided I want more of a fun street truck rather than a dedicated drag truck.

I already have the caltracs so I am going to run those and see how they work. For the street I am thinking 20x10 but I also don't want anything sticking out too far. If I continue to struggle with traction I might end up doing some sort of 4-link from PMF now that I have no chance of competing in super street.

What offset would you need on a 20x10 to keep them from sticking way out. I have been thinking about the same thing for mine, but everything I can find is deep negative offset.

I would like a 20x9.5 or 20x10 with 305/50

Thanks!

I have not picked out tire/wheel combo exactly but I also want 20x9 or 20x10 and don't want any crazy stance with the tires sticking way out.

it wont be "way" out but it will be slightly past the fender. 20x9 0 offset sits exactly flush with the fender.

I like just a little offset... but some guys go CRAZY with offset these days.

Thanks for the help

It has been a long time since I updated this thread. Progress is so slow on the race truck. The biggest issues seem to be money, time, and waiting on parts once I actually have the money to order them LOL.

Truck got painted. I went with a bright white. It looks really good. The roll pan bumper turned out well.

The interior is coming along nice. We ripped out the vinyl flooring and ugly bench seat. We were going to run "racing seats" but I just like the stock OEM captain chairs too much. We went with a 2008 center console with 2007 seats redone with Katskin leather. Notice the custom purple stitching! The seats and center console look AWESOME!!!

I changed all the interior lights out to WHITE LED (including a/c and headlight switches). I also did a complete custom cluster with LEDs and black cat customs cluster face. I LOVE IT. The pictures do not do it justice. It is so crisp and clear in person.

I finally have the long block all put together. I decided on a black and polished aluminum look.
I ended up doing triple orings (2 in head, 1 in block). Black diamond head gaskets
The new ODAWG stage 3r intakes looks so good polished up.
Hypermax H beam rods
RCD stage 2 cam
Upgraded push rods
.040 pistons with delipped fuel bowl and valve reliefs
New promaxx heads
Upgrade valve springs
New Mahle valves

I must've gotten lucky. Mine are still up. I did have some issues getting the site to come up a few days ago though.

lucky for you guys.

they had a big "maintenance upgrade" this week and it caused issues for many customers. If you get on their blog or facebook page it appears that 1000s of people were affected. Of course every single person on there is complaining about... but I guess that does not mean everyone is affected.

That's why every once in a while I hit that "download album" button on there for my important albums.

**edit** which appears to also not be working right now. LOL

I recently started using Facebook for all of mine. They don't care how many pictures you have, it's free, and much much easier to use than PB.....and if you don't want everybody to see them on FB (like constant updates of truck parts) you can make the uploads only visible to you and then link the photos just like from Photobucket.

After Photobucket's October update I lost a bunch of mine, but they eventually got them back.

I seem to remember your truck blowing off the tires when the converter locked up from a roll :p
