What's the max safe temp? I hit 245 for a minute pulling 15K up 8% grade this weekend.

If you do it a lot you will eat the antioxidants up. The rule of thumb is for every 10 degrees C increase in temp you cut the oxidation life in half. But, depending on your oil and OCI your probably changing it far before the TBN is low.
