I know diesel power mag. did a 500hp build on a s366, but is it possible to get more out of this turbo? After talking to Jake at Irate he said an s366 would have a hard time cleaning up with anything over 238/80s. So would this mean 500(ish) is max for this turbo? thanks

Thats what i thought...all in the tuning...what is the next size up from a 366? people are saying s468 but thats seems like an awfully big jump...

there is a 368 and a 372(not sure on flow of these but they do exist).... next step up would be a 466... 4 series turbos are a little tight to fin in a OBS.

there is one (i believe the 468) is soposed to light like a 66 but flow like a 72

Matt from Full Force is/was running a 468 on his obs I'm pretty sure, an he really liked it. If I remember correctly he was running stg 2's at first with it an then went to 300 or 350/200's an it did really well

S366 has many platforms and configurations on turbine housings. Biggest will come down to tunes and making shore not to over fuel it a bilet s366 will flow some good lbs/per min But a s400 platform is far more superior in strength and when you compare the price of a bilet s366 to like a s471sx it's cheaper to goto a s400 platform and capable of making more power

i know Chris (PowstrokeJunkie) from the nation had his set up for 530 hp with his gated s366 running 250/80's. I know he tuned it back some atlest on the torque side because he towed with his truck

I made 542 corrected rwhp with 250/100 and a terrible boost leak on a gated s366. This turbo can make 550 rwhp but as stated above in order to do so you have to stretch the injectors wide open and this 366 just doesn't have the CFM to clean up an injector that size. What this translates to is a very powerful but SMOKEY 540-550rwhp truck. If your wanting anything over 515-520 and larger than 250/80 or 250/100's IMO get a bigger turbo.

IIRC kris made 528 on gearhead tunes and 250/80.. In my opinion the s366/250/80 is probably the best bang for your buck all around combo for these trucks

Whats the lowest rpms you can get an S4668 to light at and not choke out on the top end? I tow with my truck but want to make 550ish rwhp..thats why im asking, i dont want to smoke out or melt anything. Of course ill be meth injected and I/Ced im just worried about the EGTs and smoke...oh yea 238/100s most likley..

Bell HFSB is also an AWESOME turbo option for the mid 500hp range. It should have a quicker spool-up, stronger top end, lower driver pressures, and better EGT's compared to an off the shelf s366

Jacob, i cant belive your lips and jaws arent worn out by now. Bell, wop, terminator and dp have got to be taking a toll on your dental bill. Unreal dude, you gotta be the most biased damn "old school" guy i know. Do you think on your own or just read cue cards?

Im not dogging any vendors here, just wondering if your ever going to give an unbiased report?

Nothing biased about it Luke. I've driven trucks with 366 turbos and trucks with Bell turbos. Bell wins everytime. Just facts.

We can also get the BASB the high flow wheel, but it uses a standard t4 housing so it will out spool the regular version of the hypermax based turbo. It is a very good charger but when moving up the the 500+ power range the 468 has proven to be a very good charger. It moves the air and also has the bigger turbine wheel to help on the top end. If looking for a faster spooling towing turbo than the BASB is the better choice. If looking for the power side of the setup than the S468 would be the one I would go for. It can still tow and is very street friendly. And works very well with a 200% nozzle injector.
The 366 is a very good package for the setups that are going for sub 500hp numbers. If wanting more than that then it is better to move up to the 400 frame for the larger turbine section.

^^What he said. With my 238/80s and hitting just over 500 rwhp the 366 (non-gated) has to be getting close to the edge. Boost/drive pressure on the dyno was 38/58, but on the street it sees 43 psi, so I would imagine drive is creeping toward 65-70 psi

Good thing about the S300's is they are smaller and can handle some serious rpm. Pretty tough if you ask me.
