Well... after having a few diesels and not getting much past the intake/tuner/exhaust crowd i decided i wanted a good condition 6.4 that i could build for a reliable 650 HP, drive it every day and not be the same as every other truck on the road. not a massive power number but enough to be fun! i think my setup will be quite similar to what a few others have done recently.
This forum has been an excellent resource and i'm happy to say that most of the parts for this project have been purchased from members on here! i will add the parts list in a little bit:rockon:

Looks like it is going to be a "BULLETPROOF" build for the most part. You are going to love the power and driveablity of the new setup once it is done. Studs are on their way to you as well bud. Thanks again.

^^ I second that question as well

Sounds like you have a solid build planned and it'll be an awesome truck. The only thing I don't see addressed that will need to be at some point in time is the trans. Running hot tunes in addition to a 71mm will for sure stress the transmission. My last fluid change I had a fair amount of material on the pan magnet and my tc slip numbers are pretty bad. I think adding an RCD convertor and an HD rebuild kit would be a good step. Keep in mind this truck has seen a few pulls and track days. Btw I'm partial to the color lol. I remember when mine looked like that, even though it was only for about the first 2 hours I had the truck.

I don't think it's any secret that Precision gates have had a noticeable failure rate over the years on here and PSN. I remember several attributing it to heat issues.

I know my Precision cooked itself to death along with the motor, but that wasn't the gates fault.
Glad to hear you got my up pipes and they should be shipped out to you soon.

And I though that Steve and GOGO were pals. LOL

Why precision gate?

i figured i would take a chance on it as there are several people that run it with no issues. i think it is a hit and miss honestly

^^ I second that question as well

im trying not to think about the trans LOL my wallet hates life as is! no seriously, thanks for the suggestion-i plan to run it until it blows and then figure it out from there. i can understand your liking to the colour :) , your truck looks awesome btw

That trans should live a happy life with a tune and the 71. That's my solenoid btw, Ron. No GoGo here :).

 sorry Steve-i knew that  maybe a mod can change so i'm not misrepresenting!

Upgrade to the tial gate. What's a couple hundred at this point. My precision lasted less than a year.

Thats not very good for something that you are counting on to help save your motor and drivetrain. :flush:

I have had two precisions fail out of the 50 or so I've put in. Both were in very high heat situations, 1900 degrees plus. That was also with older tuning that was never really meant for the setups they were on. With current tuning from everyone being so much better than it was. I haven't really seen heat issues that would hurt a precision. But if your gonna be in a situation where your setup is running really hard and generating big heat. I have had good luck using the water cooled tials. For this setup im sure a precision is fine.
