direct drive solenoid

i installed the direct drive solenoid. for anyone that is looking for info on the install it is real simple. the pan has a reusable rubber gasket so i just drained the fluid i could out of the pan into clean containers and then dropped the pan. pulled the filter out and the solenoid to replace was the middle one of the three in a row. pop the E-clip off, swap the solenoids and thats it! some pics for reference...
first is the way it looks stock, second is the solenoid removed and third is the modified solenoid installed-notice it is clocked one way to seat properly.

Sweet!! Thanks again for the business brotha

.

no probs! just a question but i put about 200 miles on it this weekend and it seemed to learn in a bit but the shift is still quite hard. is this to be expected or will it soften out a bit. the solenoid sure is doing its job effectively LOL

It should soften up a little bit with some drive time. Re-learn should be finished by now.

well....no time for the cab off work yet but i put the 5" dp back exhaust and the mini maxx with canned tunes on for the time being.

i have a big problem-THE TRUCK IS DEAD SLOW.
some stats:
i just ran to Wisconsin and back and averaged 15.38 mpg hand calc
on the mm-fuel pressure never goes over 25ksi (anyone know what is commanded?)
mild tunes with S1M shift strategy lbf 0.
stock wheels and tires- can't even break the tires loose flat footing it from a dead stop, trying to reach 100mph takes an eternity-moderate to heavy smoke output

any ideas!!!!!!!???????????

i will be getting Gearhead tuning but the thing is my 08 with the same canned tunes absolutely hauled ass and this one can hardly get ahead of the traffic.

What are your egts like? I'd guess boost leak or vgt issue.

egts got to 1450 but quite slowly.

also noticed that the injector rattle was quite pronounced.

vgt cycles at startup like normal but don't know if that means anything.

i didnt watch the boost closely

CAI and CCV reroute

the No Limit intake is awesome. fits great and sounds good to boot! i like how much care was taken in the packaging of the product-as well as how even the hose clamps say USA on them LOL Function and form is top shelf.

for the ccv reroute i got hose that was the perfect OD to fit inside the stock tube. second pic is where it landed under the truck. truck is running in pic-little to no smoke.

Traction bars

i installed the fabtech floating traction bars along with a 5.5" rear block. the first challenge was seized heim joints because the bars weren't brand new. That involved heating each end cherry red in order to get the rod ends out then a treatment with the wire wheel and copper never-seize. i had to remove the steel shield that protects the front of the fuel tank otherwise i could have never drilled the frame for the front mounts. i hope that's not a problem.
The other issue i had was installing the pinion angle shims. They are to go underneath the spring pack so i tried to split the springs to no avail.... I ended up just drilling the hole bigger in the shim and slipping it under the block. thankfully the pin still had enough sticking out to grab the spring perch. here are some pics of the bars and blocks installed...........
I'm looking for comments on the last one-the front of the spring hits the traction bar under certain circumstances. is there an issue with flipping the bars upside down to allow more clearance??? or did i do something wrong?

Leveling kit

after a little work with the lathe and welder a 2" leveling kit became a 2.5" :D

eventually i will do the front lift properly as funds permit..... This was a simple install in the meantime-undo the shocks and sway bar (i unbolted it from the frame so i didn't have to mess with the end links) and jack the truck up by the frame. the coils fall out providing easy access the the spring pads. one bolt to undo, slide the spacer in, rebolt with a longer bolt and done! just an FYI....don't forget to undo the wheel speed sensor cables LOL

Did you mean to say mild tune? On the mild your running a very small tune. Why is the hd300 not loaded? To me the tuning isn't at fault. It's doing what it's supposed to do.

Unless I'm missing something, I believe that's your problem.

i was running an intake swapped from another truck at the time. When i went back to the stock MAF sensor and Mikes intake the problem disappeared.
