TS or DP on extreme driving like grandma works good, get a 203 deg. t-stat, jack it up and make sure the breaks are not dragging often

Thats what i thought. So is it worth picking up a used superchips for 200 for mpg reasons?

no not at all... maybe if it where 50$... you can get a custom ts style chip from beans for 275$. i would go that route for only 75 bucks more...

I'm running consistent 13.6 stock. My wife drives it like a grandma. Starting to scratch my head thinking something is wrong seeing these numbers.
with an intake and exhaust no tunes and stock everything else, i got 9-10 no matter how i drove my dually... now with everything i have im normally at 14mpg mixed driving... bout 16 on the freeway on long trips and 12-13 round town. my dually also weighs over 9k. but 14mpg is about the norm for any given truck...

but like i said before its mostly how its drove..

Ive seen people knock into the low 20s.. friend of mine had an 01 excursion on 35s, and claimed to be getting 21-22, with a DP tuner.. Granted, his wife was driving. Lol.
I find this hard to believe. I can drive like an old man and get 17mpg or drive like a 16 yr old and get 14mpg.
I just drove 800 miles, doing the speed limit or less, in cruise control and got 15.8897mpg. That was between 70-75 mph through NM, AZ and southern CA. I top my tank off on every fill up andhand calculate mileage. My computer shows 17.3 after getting 7.21 (hand calculated)mpg pulling my 5th wheel 1500 miles from Forsyth, Ga to Las Cruces, NM.

Like i said.. He Claimed. Just some insight from what i have heard from others. But not the first person with a 7.3 that has gotten in the 20s with their mpg.

edit; Not the first person I've heard claim they have gotten into the 20s.

Its pretty easy to get around 20 mpg when your speed limit is 55....on a tuned stock truck.

your speed is a big factor in fuel economy, higher rpm changes fuel maps and wind drag is a killer, also tuning on 7.3's will throw the OTC (overhead trip counter) off

Yeah, I usually run at about 1800-1900 RPM's when I'm trying for economy. I just decided to run the speed limit and see what I would get.

Just get a hot tune and drive easy. Thats where the best MPG is found.

My OBS gets 18mpg around town and 21-22mpg highway when I'm really driving easy and doing the limit.

My 6spd 2wheel SD got 21mpg around town, and never did any highway so I dunno highway mpg.

Just curious what kind of mpg change do you all see from summer to winter diesel?
