need a new alternator

should i just buy a new stock one? or should i step up to a real nice one?

or will this 185amp oem replacement from dc power be just fine?

i like the looks of the higher dollar ones, but that is also holding me back, i dont see how i can justify $500+ for an alternator unless its really that much better.

The DC one would be just fine--lots of guys running them. Do you have anything needing additional power? I've been between them, Mean Green and this Quick Start http://alternatorparts.com/Ford_3G.htm . The 160 amp with dual rectifier.

DC Power is a good choice
call them and ask when it will arrive
and pay with a credit card so if it's a week late you can cancel

I had mine in 3 days 2 years ago but then they ran in to internal shipping MFG issues ( admitted) so some guys were a month out

I bought a Mean Green 190 amp.
Size was a major concern for my application because of the piping on my twins.
The MG uses a bigger case, but still fits perfectly.
I run Yellow top Optimas...one was a dud, and killed the alternator. Best thing that could of happened to the truck, cuz this alternator works awesome.

-electric fans
-48 volt ficm
-Aeromotive fuel pump

Got mine for a killer deal too.

I replaced mine with a stocker.. I figured the first one lasted 150K running a snowplow so I couldn't complain..

I went with a Tenney 270 and it was 325 or so. Lifetime warranty.

my stocker died around 60k

they use a small case and in AZ heat kills
the DC used a large case so more room the breathe

I think they also use the stock sized alternator on the ford focus....maybe the mini vans....if you don't need any more power then those....I guess stock will be fine.

You should be fine with a stock turbo too...
Or tires....
Or exhaust...
Or injectors...
Or...

Just had to replace one with one from O'Reilly's. Didn't have much choice as the original one died at 6:45 p.m. on a Sunday night.

Not so bad, got a military discount and it does the job.
