Looking to change up my truck a little bit. Want to go from a slight lift to kind of a short fat look. I like the look of the 420s. Wondering if tha is a safe tire for an 8000lb truck, also pulling 12-15k trailers? Do they last long? I can't seem to get 20k out of any set, hoping for a little more. Also wheel and offset recommendations. Truck is leveled, would plan on getting rid of blocks in the rear and going back to stock front leaf packs, unless there is a better way? I've only gone up, not down with trucks.

I've heard of a couple of guys towing under 12k and getting decent mileage out of them.
I've never ran them myself, but I've got a set for sale (22) if you wanna save some coin.

Sub'd. I'd like to hear if many people have towed with 420s and how heavy the loads were. That was one reason I've hesitated to run them because I need to be able to tow

Ok, I think I would go with 20s max to keep rim and tire prices down as much as possible. I would probably do this spring time, I could pm you if you are still interested in the leveling kit. Another thing that might not look right is I have dual Aussie stacks, think that would look weird with a wheel/tire set up like that on a slightly lower than stock truck?

Your probably looking at 900 lbs less capacity per tire as they are rated around 3000 . My tire guy said they are not a recommended tire for a large truck pulling heavy . He has an F250 and pulls heavy so I trust his knowledge .

So as you all can imagine, a solid axle front CCLB truck does not turn the best. I always end up going over curbs, parking lots around here are hair not made for trucks like this. Anyone have the 20x12 set up running 420s? If I take a curb at a diagonal, will I end up dinging the wheels? I'd be pretty violent if curb rash the poop out of my new wheels. Also why offset to run on the front and rear?

I would definitely not go 20x12 on 420's if that's the issue I think 20x12 with 12.50's isn't enough to protect from curb rash. I get nervous with my 20x10's on 35x12.50's if I hit a curb especially.

****ty. I love the look of the 420s on 20x12s but probably just won't work for what I do with the truck. Would be a little different if wheels were 100 bucks a piece instead of an arm and a leg.

You will get curb rash for sure if your going faster then idle in drive lol
I tow about 11,000 with my truck on 20x12's and 420's and havent had a issue ive seen other guys tow with them as well and havent heard of any issues.

My tire slid down a curb and didn't hurt the rim one bit. I hopped on the curb and thought it wouldn't slide down but it did. Nothing was hurt still looks brand new.

thats good. do the 420s have a little rubber lip on them to help protect the wheels? i have seen that on other tires.

I snatched this pic from another thread here's a look at some 420's

Heres a better pic of the truck so you can get an idea of what it looks like.
