Can you elaborate more details. Engine mods. Lift. You said in your first post lift and big tires. So I could only assume.
Air temp. Humidity. Grade of accention pass your climbing. Gear ratio of truck. Speed you are driving when climbing the pass. What type of trailer and loaded weight. Elevation. What gear are you towing in while climbing the pass. (All these contribute to the equation)
I know you mentioned elevation and truthfully that is a factor for sure. Dirty air filter and lack of oxygen and air density can contribute to this.
Alot of factors to consider and your NOT the only one that sees high EOT.
It is possible you have a clogging cooler.
So,dude at the dealership assumed "lift/big tires".I am running 35's,but I don't think it's lifted,just a leveling kit up front.
No engine mods that I am aware of....I'm pretty sure its stock.I cleaned the air filter, when I changed to syn. oil before the trip.Just knocked the dust off,not replace...wasn't bad.
Temperature was around 80*,low humidity-we're in the high desert, and by high desert,I'm at 5600 ft.,and the summit is at 5940 ft.
No idea what the grade is on that pass, but it is a pretty good pull. Also not sure the gearing of the truck-2011 Lariat F350 FX4.Build date is 6/10.
Was only doing the speed limit-75-dropped her to 70 as the temps climbed.
26' bumper pull Wildcat Maxx,loaded,maybe 7-7200 lbs.Running with tow/haul on.
Now,with all this said, something similar to this happened the first time I pulled the trailer the same route....only it was losing power as I tried to pass traffic on this pass.I had no idea what was going on,and the wife was going through the owners manual trying to find out WTF was going on.Since then I have learned "a little" about de fueling.I think that may have been what it was doing, but I was ignorant to the oil temps problems the first time, and wasn't monitoring it.Thought it may have been a fuel issue, and shortly after, changed the filters.
As well I just recently ordered an oil cooler, and am going to replace that, just to eliminate that from the equation. My main concern is that it seems REALLY hot,but if enough people could tell me it's "normal", then I'll just drive it and not worry.
I am wanting to at minimum put a SCT X4 tuner on it til I ******,but don't want to exacerbate the problem.Thoughts on that?
