PCM Failure? HS Mini Max

Good news! The recovery went through, even using the used PCM that we purchased. I honestly don't know exactly how it was successful, but I took the Mini Max back to stock, then downloaded the tunes, and the truck is running!

i wonder if that other PCM actually failed? I would be willing to bet you had something else going on.

I have to wonder that too...not worth the time and effort at this point to go back and check. I do believe it was bad though. The reason I was having trouble programming the used PCM we got is because it was telling me the P/N was wrong. Once I started a completely new session on the IDS, without bringing up the previous session, it linked up to the PCM under the VIN of the truck the PCM came out of. Then when programming I was able to change the VIN in the PCM.

Who knows... lol

I have same problem.....i was few day ago change ******* tune to my dad 2007 6.4 Powerstroke and while i’m gone my dad walks near the truck and hear some sound and turn ignitionkey off 😕 and now i can’t load stock or any other tunes! truck aint start at all, possibly PCM is corrupt. Any tips?

today my buddy reflashed PCM and I was very hopeful that the car would be up to date .... but no, now it is not to communicated 🤔

Have a similar problem, got my H&S unlocked loaded a new tune from a popular vendor, it goes though all the loading processes turn the key nothing, reload the H&S tunes truck runs fine. Talked with vendor sent tune 3 or 4 times always the same thing, they say I have a mechanical problem? Will an ABS brake code stop a tune from loading? Any thoughts?

If the truck takes the H&S tune fine, its not a problem with the truck...

Having a similar issue. My 08 6.4 350 was blowing white smoke. Changed fuel injectors and both turbos. Went to drive and transmission started to not shift properly and would give a hard kick. Changed the transmission and now the truck starts and runs good half the time and blows no smoke but when I take off it starts to putt putt and blows white smoke when it does. It has H&s tuner and when it starts to run rough the Tuner goes sporadically jumping all over. We are thinking it’s the PCM after all of that but I’m lost and need help. Had diagnostic ran on a $15k computer and the PCM wasn’t responding. Don’t know if it’s throwing my injectors off or what but when it starts It sounds good and runs fine. When I take off it doesn’t have the power it should have and starts putting here n there.

The first thing I do if somethings not working right is pilut it back to stock. Then reload the tunes and try again. It only takes time to do it.

Are all your connections tight on your engine harness?

Yes I have went over all the wiring. Even cleaned the harness out. I seen someone say that the H&S are known for freezes the computer. That’s all I can think at the moment. Seems to be almost my last hope.

My H&S will no longer let me add any tunes in it or anything either it just says loading and isn’t picking up anything.

So the H&S is not able to connect to your pickup?No it will not let me load any tunes. Even before the issue got bad when the truck would run the H&S would jump all over the place. Like it was going haywire. I assume the Computer played a roll but I am waiting on ECM now

Interesting. Hopefully somebody with the same problem will chime in. Sounds like your programmer is corrupted well as the pcm.

It was My ECM. The ECM was throwing off everything from the Transmission shifting to the fuel injectors not working properly etc.
I have been through some battles with this truck. It’s now blowing heavy white smoke
I have not tuned it since replacing everything. I see an oil leak on the ground I will get to it when I get some time to see what’s going on now. But the replacement of the ECM and then having a Locksmith reprogram the security on the computer worked Great.
