powerstroke 6.4 o-ring cylinder head question

Hi I have a question for those that o-ringed your heads. Does the o-ring crush on the most inner part of the head gasket or does it line up with that groove indentation of the head gasket? Thanks!

The groove of the outer diameter is the edge of the fire ring in the factory head gasket. It has no application here.

The o-ring diameter in your head or block deck should be setup with a diameter thats 1/2 the distance between your 2 arrows. It assists in exerting additional clamping force on the existing fire ring contained in a factory headgasket.
