Hey guys, new here. I usually hang out on the powerstroke.org forum. I came here to see if anyone knows whats going on with Justin over at Powerstruck. I sent him back my 8 position Powerstruck chip for a re-tune about 3 months ago. Getting kind of frustrated, every time I call he gives me a new excuse. I would really like to get my chip back so I can see the full potential of the GTP38R I just installed.

Thanks guys

There isn't any benefits of re-tuning when you upgrade chargers.

I'd look elsewhere. I haven't been impressed with his tunes. From 350 hp to 500 hp trucks

I spoke with him Last month. He lost his hard drive so he is having to almost start all over. He took care of me on other aspects right away and am currently working through those issues to determine if I need some adjustments on tuning or a new HPOP.

I was re-tuning for other reasons. And I already own the chip, so at a cost of shipping for a re-tune. I'm not complaining. But I have not run the new charger on a high HP tune, it's only running about 22 psi 4th gear WOT. I have noticed the amount of air moved is so much more over stock, there's definitely a power difference. I've also noticed by how much more rubber I can burn... Not that I do that often... But I'd like to see it up in the 30s. The shop I bought the charger from said I should wait for my chip to re-adjust the waste gate.

Crank the wastegate down. They are set really loose from the factory on the GTP38R. You will definitely notice a difference.

BTW, as far as our tunes go, no tune changes are required for just a 38R either. Only so much you can do with the fuel you have, and without an injector swap you will not notice a huge difference in power with the 38R. Great turbo, but the amount of fuel thrown at it determines how well it will perform.

This is true. Stock tune versus any kind of performance tune is a big difference. But a 120HP Race tune with a stock turbo versus 120HP Race with 38R, and no change in injectors, will not achieve any major gains. The biggest one may be sound. Overall boost levels should be about the same between the two. The 38R really starts to show it's worth with any injector larger than stock.

Still though, I do like the 38R even with a stock injectors. While the performance gain isn't anything drastic, the elimination of surge and cooler EGT's is worth it alone.

Disconnecting the red line doesn't help any when exhaust pressures overcome the spring pressure of the wastegate actuator. On any injector 180cc and smaller, you should tighten the actuator arm down till the wastegate arm can't open at all. You will get a noticeable mid range power boost. Especially with bigger than stock injectors.

I've been live tuned by Justin and run his injectors. Awesome tunes! He is a really good guy And knows his stuff. Locked his shop up on a Saturday just so he could live tune my truck. Call him, he's open on Saturdays til 5. He's been very busy, he also is a Ford dealer so he sells cars and trucks also. Very busy man!

Wonder if hes having the same issues with my chip he said would be shipped to me 3 weeks ago. Except I don't have a CA truck.

Excuse after excuse. He sure does have a lot of them.

Take in mind, Powerstruck live tuned my truck. But I've ran Dp, Beans/Dyno Proven, ********, Php, some other chip that I can't remember and Sct with custom tunes. I have ********, Php and Powerstruck tunes on my Hydra currently. I'm constantly going through the tunes while towing all the way to race tune. I find myself always going back to the Powerstruck tunes. Like I said though, he live tuned my truck so have to take that into consideration. My vote is for Powerstruck tunes but everyone has their different opinions.

Update: Recieved my Hydra today. Programmed the stock tunes from PHP. The truck starts great in every tune. Has trouble going from the DD tune to Stock tune. Stalls out the truck and throws a bunch of codes, but it usually keeps running after it figures itself out. Didn't get a chance to drive it with these base tunes. Unfortunately for my truck being CA emissions it only had the 80DD 65Tow and 100Race. Gave Justin a call and told him what code I was running and now he's making up some good tunes for me. I did however put it into 100 race tune on smashed the throttle. Blew a bunch of smoke in the parking lot. Was really satisfying :D. Dont get me wrong though Im not a routine smoker. :p

Yeah I plugged in my Box code to the computer and it spit out the correct code to use. And I checked that with the stock tune the chip came pre programmed with and it seemed to be the same code. Maybe I missed a letter though. Ill have to recheck that.
