Engine is out on a stand, getting cleaned up, new oil pan, HPOP, fuel bowl rebuilt, new water pump, pulleys, tensioner, glow plugs/relay, manifolds, up pipes, paint, etc, the works.

I can't decide if I should pull the injectors and install new o-rings.

Part of me says "don't mess with it, it's fine." part says "you don't want to do it in 20k miles with the engine in the truck, do you?"

Engine is original PMR motor, had 85k when I bought it has 135k now, no issues and runs very strong.

So....should I change the o-rings? Or just let her be? I already have them "in case" 8 sets of Allliant o-rings from Riffraff.

Thoughts?

This should be a no brainer for you if you have changed everything else such as pullies and up pipes. Then you should do the o rings on the injector and in the top of the injector and also the hpo rail. Here is a trick for you bud,you can use the bottom o ring on the injector in the hpo oil rail. The o ring is a little thicker and seals better.

Tom, do the orings. Did them on my truck last winter in the truck and it sucked...also delete that fuel bowl and get yourself regulated return.

I thought Alliant were OEM?

I use to think that too. Installed numerous sets over the years up until about a year or so ago.

I had a run of bad luck on injector orings about a year ago. Pulled 6-8 sets back out because of ****ty orings.

It's a long story, but I had not installed the orings but they were brand new. I can't say they were alliants, I don't think they were, but they were NOT motorcraft.

With that said, after that whole fiasco, and pain in my ass I went to ONLY motorcraft orings. I ate all tow bills, parts, and labor because of aftermarket orings. So that's where my suggestion came from.

Well....chit. I guess that's good to know. The set I have I've been sitting on for 2-3 years now, so I don't think they could be from the "bad batch" however I guess I need to locate some motorcaft o-rings.

Two or three years ago was when the bad batch came out. I think Alliant fixed the issue they were having.

I used a bit of silicone on the doghouse o-rings, no issues since.

I guess if they aren't leaking, I'd probably just leave the orings be, unless you have the injectors out for some other reason.
They have held just fine thus far.

And in a way that's my exact thought on it. Don't fix what aint broke.

I just know IF I end up having an issue, I'll be seriously kicking myself that I didn't do it.

Ah, they're not that bad to do in the truck. First time it's a pain, but like anything else it gets easier with practice, lol.
They don't generally just fail after 100k miles of service. In my experience, most failures happen within 10k miles of replacement, either installation error, or material failure.
