While the Valentine One does have a slight (and I mean SLIGHT) range advantage over the 9500ix, the V1 STILL does not have GPS or false alert filtration. I've seen a test where a fella tested the 9500ix vs the V1 (both on highway mode) on a road trip. While the V1 would alert him maybe a quarter second faster, it had 112 false alerts (yes, thats one hundred twelve), where as the Escort had only a few. For a detector that will be used in a daily driver, the Escort wins all day every day, in my book.

If my detector alerts me every five minutes of a possible threat, and it turns out to be nothing, it really defeats the purpose of the detector. And eventually, you're going to lose faith in that detector and think a possible threat is just another false alert, when it ends up being a Trooper just around the bend.

Agreed on this for sure.

With the amount of break ins around me I never leave my radar in my truck. I use it for trips and long hauls mainly, or on nights out.

I will agree driving around town, auto doors etc will trip it making me slow down more often than without the false trips.

And this is why I settled on the 9500ix. Now, the minute Valentine decides to add GPS and false alert filtration, I will be back on the Valentine boat. I honestly have no idea why they haven't changed the hardware in years. It's time for an update.

I often wonder this as well, I've owned my valentine for 5 years.
I send it in once a year to get"updated" has yet to fail on a signal.

It really is a wonder they haven't added false alert at least.

They would almost monopolize the market. From what I've heard, Valentine's software update is pretty pricey and it's not very often. Escort offers free software updates every week to add in more accurate GPS data and correct any (if any) prevalent issues.

I have a belltronics. I need to check the model number since I can't recal. But it's pretty much dead nuts accurate for the 40-50k miles I have on it.

Thinking about the escort 9500ix the more i research. Do you suggest staying away from a used one on ebay?

I bought one used one time and it was fine for a couple of years and then it started acting funny so I sent it back to Escort, they fixed it and sent it back to me fixed for free so I wouldn't have a problem buying a used one with a company that backs there product like Escort does..

Mine is a belltronics vector 995. It was reasonable. I think $125 range. I forget exactly. Picked up everything I've needed it to from Florida to Maine.

Don't bother buying one for that price if going new IMO. Radar detectors are definitely you get what you pay for thing. Stick with good top name brands. 9500, v1 etc. if you want to save money find a used one. I paid 150 for my v1.
