Trying to figure out what my rear leaf spring code/lb rating from the factory is.
Can I find this out by vin?
No stickers remain anywhere on them.
Looking for same or just a hair lower weight rating.
After 26 years one has started to sag quite noticeably.
Putting carli 2.5 springs up front to replace the donor 06 springs on my suspension swap, which will nearly perfectly match to the original ride height with the oem springs.
Looking for a softer ride out back even if I have to adjust block height.
Not interested in modding springs, just want bolt in and go.
Not towing anything.
Any suggestions?

It’s on the door sticker on my SD truck. Maybe in the same spot for you. I believe that reads as v code front A code rear.

If I’m reading this right, it’s the SPR and VA code correct?
I’ll be checking mine as soon as I get back to Texas in a few weeks.

Finally got home and had a chance to get to the truck.
Has A code rear leafs.
This is 3/1 - 2600lb/spring.
Looking at comparable springs the next closest weight rating I can get is 1950lbs.
In search for a slightly softer ride, would this be too soft?
Truck does not tow.
Arch height is;
7” for 2600lb
8-7/8” for 1950.
To stay level most likely I will need a thinner leaf pad block.
Anyone used rear 1950lb springs before?

Being in the rear on a stock height vehicle with no added or high weight, no. A healthy sway bar system even just in the front will help with body roll also. A rear sway bar would help even more.

Got a sway bar in front and definitely looking into installing a rear.
Hoping an oem 06 rear sway bar will bolt up to the 96 with 06 axles, have not looked into it yet.
Going to get interesting with trac bars (yet to be installed, on the bottom of u-bolts), sway bar and sd shock hangers installed in obs shock location.
May be tight.
