I know the running lights (3 amber lights on the steps) are tapped into the parking lights.

Are the white entry lights tapped into the harness (Ultimate, Platinum, maybe XLT truck) that is dead-ended under the truck for the lighted running boards that come on the KR trucks? If so, does anyone know the pigtail part number to plug into the harness?

Thanks

I used waterproof LED light that you get on a spool. What I found was that the plug for the running board lights is the same as the rangers speaker adapter. Metra 72-5600 Ford Speaker Harness ...p/B001OAB6BW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_RDe0ybB70WRB5 that I got on Amazon. I didn't use the actual plastic part of the connector, I removed the wires from that ranger plug adapter and then used them in the blank plug adapter that is under the truck. I then soldered the wires from the LED lights to the pigtail and heat struck them. I used RTV in the socket to make sure it stayed waterproof and now it's simple plug and play if ever the cab needs to be removed. I also tied into my lights going in my bed. It all works off the factory interior/bed light switch.

This is my buddies truck I did after mine and I also did another friends F250. I can possible get everything done for you here and ship it to you completed where you only have to plug it in and stick it. I would just need your blank plugs to use them and the cost of parts and material and time. PM if interested or just want to know more.

Pretty sure it's BC3Z-14408-A. They are actually the full length of the KR style illuminated step boards. They have bulb connectors at each end to twist into the housing. I used two rock lights on each side to do sort of what the video shows. I spliced the harness leaving the bulb ends intact incase I wanted to use them for something else. BTW they will come on if you use the dash switch to turn on all the interior lights.

Any pics of the strips mounted? Can you see them? Are they out of the way of careless feet?

I can get you better pictures tomorrow or Thursday when I get my truck back. But yes they are completely out of the way where I put them. Many times in and out and never broke one. LED strip is about 1/8" thick at most so very low profile. Love the way they light up the ground and running boards. I have amp steps now and I didn't even install the amp lights as I like the way these look. If you turn on your interior light and you are over 8 mph the running board lights turn off automatically.

Any chance someone has a picture of where that harness is? I briefly looked under my 13 XLT and didn't see any harness that was dead-ended.

I dont know if the XLT trucks have it. I know the Lariat, Platinum and of course the KR have them. If it does, you will see a connector dead ended under truck, at the rear of the cab, near the rear cab step brackeT on each side.

In this picture you can see the connector in the image. This is taken from the passenger side rear

As I have seen, anything below a Lariat will not have this plug.
