Im picking up a bullseye billet s483 here cheap in a few days and am going to have MPD plumb up a compound setup using the 38r HP. what should i run for wastegates and exhaust housings. i have the 1.0 and 1.15 for the 38r and the s483 has the 1.32 housing. do i even need gates? id like to see boost around 60-65. Injectors will be 250/100's for now. 300/200 later.

With 238/30 injectors and a 44mm Tial gate on the 38R I could not call for much fuel without running 50 to 60lbs with a GT47-88 first stage running a 1.39 A/R and a 1.15 on the 38R.

With a 44mm Tial on both it still took massive duty cycle to keep the chargers at 60psi with some 200% nozzles.

Now with a GT55 in place of the 47 with a 1.12 housing and the same gates the truck can't run below ~80psi at WOT with definite fuel delivery issues.

If not for total pressure control, you will at minimum need a gate on the 38R just to keep it from making so much pressure that it's doing all the work and spinning itself to death.

I would recommend a 60mm gate.

Thanks for the info Chuck. Ill get one for the 38 first. How hard was it drilling and welding to the 1.15 housing? Would it be easier to weld it to the uppipes? I have Di stainless.

On another subject what hpos do you like. The gen3 or twins? Which setup gets upto pressure faster?

Is there any special position or angle it should be on housing?

That will depend on you and how you locate everything else. I would try to get it tangent where it contacts the housing so it flows smoothly.

I had a guy at my machine shop tig a stainless bung into mine for me. I had only started to Tig weld at the time and didn't want to experiment on a 300 dollar housing in such a crack-prone environment as that. It has held flawlessly ever since.

It's pretty close to a gt4718 (88mm comp) Or inbetween that and a 4708 (80mm)

turbine on the s483 is 96mm if I remember.

The billet s483 flows 1400cfm I believe 130lbs/min

If you aren't putting a second wastegate in, then I'd say so. The 1.32 will be sufficient for the fuel you're running. Where are you planning to put the big turbo?
