Hello everyone! Just bought my first diesel, a 2010 lariat and it's awesome! Haven't done anything fun like intake exhaust or tuner YET! I have an idea of the direction I'm going with those three. Where I am lost is the shocks struts and suspension ect. It's a used truck and the ride is somewhat rough to say the least. What are my options and what are the best options for me? It came with a lift maybe 3" and it looks it is leveled as well. How can I smoothen out the ride? Tires have plenty of tread they're a Nitto AT that came with the truck. Thanks for any help/guidance!

There are lots of different options depending on what you plan to do with the truck. If you want, shoot me a call and Im happy to give you some recommendations. Or if its easier, post some more info about what you want out of the truck and a rough idea of budget.

My plans are the AFE stage 2 intake flo pro 5" straight pipe exhaust with maybe an 8"-10" tip and a spartan tuner. Maybe put a new intercooler. Debating on maybe 22" rims with 37" tires. Idk. Now it's basically stock and the ride is rough. As far as what I have planned.. If you have a better recommendation or options please let me know! I'm open to ideas!

Budget is eh. I mean I'm not rich by any means and I'd have to save up as I go but I don't have a set "budget". I traded in my Ram Hemi 5.7 for this and I had $10k+ so I'm expecting atleast that over time

coil overs front and rear if you want the best ride. Congrats on the new truck, 6.4's can be monsters. The tune alone will give you wood.

if you looking to go further with the truck like bigger turbos and injectors I would do a sct or H&S, spartan doesn't give you the flexibility of havign custom tunes, and trust me custom tunes are much better than the tunes that come on the programers

Suspension, First choice is Carli Pintop for me paired with a Set of OUO traction bars. I'm a vendor for both so let me know. Awesome ride and your trans will improve from the traction bars. Axle wrap is a big problem on these trucks. let me know if you need anything

Where would I get these custom tunes done at? How would I get them?

Gearhead does them for SCT and h&s. So does innovative diesel performance. I personally love Gearhead tunes and the trans tune alone is worth the money

What does all that run? I live in the Houston Tx area so shipping? How much should it cost to be installed roughly? What is Axle wrap?

Do they do it over the web or something? Or do I ship the tuner to them? SCT or H&S? I've heard H&S is really good don't know much about SCT. Why would I choose one over the other?

My advice to you is do as much reading here as you can before you jump into a bunch of stuff. See what people like, why they like it, and what they use their truck for. I've seen guys that use trucks for daily drivers put 5.4 coils on the front and take the rear overload leaf out of the back. Cheap and simple and will get you a fairly decent ride with a good set of shocks like Fox. YouTube axle wrap to get an idea of what that is

he's looking to keep it lifted 3" and maybe run 37's with 22's not a set to run 5.4 coils with unless he does a coil spacer to clear the 37's unless his wheels have no offset, then he can fit them much easier...

nope they email you the tunes, matt at gearhead is awesome, I sent him a tune one day to have it revised at 9 pm and had it in my inbox by 11pm

only difference between the programers is that the h&s allows shift on the fly tuning, so you can change horse power levels without having to go through the tuning process all over, it still keeps the same trans file, all it does when you change power levels is change injector pulse width, ipw is how long the injector opens, the longer its open the more fuel that's put in and more power you make up until you run out of air to support the amount of fuel being injected. this is probably more involved than you though lol

What is the difference in the H&S mini maxx on hsperformance.com for $850 and the mini maxx everywhere else for $1800-$1900?
