Stock Top Speed Limiter?

I've got a friend that just got a 2012 King Ranch. He's had it over 100mph several times and thinks it may not have a top speed limiter. Truck is bone stock as far as we know.

Do the 6.7's have a top speed limiter and if so at what mph does it kick in?

I think it's around 80/90 MPH.

The factory governor is 97 mph.

Hmmm..... How would I be able to tell if there's a tune or something on the truck? No one said anything about a tuner when he bought it and there was no tuner in the truck.

Does it still have the stock exhaust? if it does maybe it has a dpf on tune?

Use a gps and see exactly where it quits pulling. Does it have stock sized tires?

Stock tires, stock exhaust. I'm gonna ride in it this weekend with my gps but he said it had buried the speedo at 100mph and kept pulling to about 3200rpms.

These trucks will hit the governor in 5th. If he was doing 3200 rpms in 6th he would be doing probably 135 mph. With my truck if your at wot it won't shift into 6th until about 105.

Well there's definitely something going on then. He specifically said it shifted into 6th at about 100mph.

Has to have a Dpf present tune of some sort. Mine pulled until 130-135 but I was closer to 4k I think he have 3.31's?

That what i'm think too has to have a dpf present tune on it or something along those lines. A stock truck doesn't go 135 LOL.

Took a ride with him and brought my gps. Got up to a little over 120mph before he had to let off. So it's got something on it for sure, albeit something very mild.
