2002 F350, put it in 4 high to run some brush down to the burn pile in the pasture.
Now it wont disengage. Did a search but didn't come up with anything.
What should I start trouble shooting?
What would cause it to not unlock?
Any where I can read up on how to trouble shoot this problem?
Thanks,

Is the light staying on after switching to 2H? Try this.. in neutral, shift from 4 lo, turn to 4 hi.........wait a few seconds, then switch to neutral and repeat for 2wd. Wonder if the motor is a little stiff due to lack of use....kinda like us. lol

Thanks,

I've had to pull the shift motor, and move the rod by hand, my motor was fine:shrug:
Maybe just sluggish, old.

Yea I tried all that stuff, backing up, going forward, put it in neutral stepping on the brake and switching from 4lo to 4 hi and 2w. Nothing has worked yet.

I hear you on the old and stiff stuff. Thought I broke my thumb when I popped the front drive shaft out so I could drive home.
Fun times.

Yea it doesn't get used much.
How did you check to make sure your motor was good?
What did you do to free it up?
Thanks

Just cycled the rod a few times. Cycled the motor, off the transfercase, and it seemed to move ok. Maybe a dead spot in the motor. Not really sure. It worked everytime, 60% of the time after that, lol.
Ended up parting the truck, anyway.

I'll pull the motor off in the morning and see what happens.
Thanks
