tailgate on a 97 want pics

im replace my tailgate because its trashed . and was wondering if any newer ford tailgates fit on the 97. also if u have a different tailgate then stock. please post a pic so i can see what it looks like..

I was in the same boat as you and I bought an aftermarket tailgate because it was more affordable. Bad idea, it is so flimsy you can push on the center of it and make it bow, just letting you know if you plan on actually trying to use it. Might be better off trying to find a used one. It was from LMC btw.

anything from like '85 til 97 will all fit... f150, f250, f350. Look locally if you can.

Ive got a red tailgate in good shape only thing missing is the panel on the back if you would be interested

pretty sure 85-86 uses the different latch

All tailgates from an F-series 87 to 96 will fit. A tailgate from a 97 f-150 will not fit, but one from an F-250 or F-350 will work.

Thanks guys also.thought was 87 -96. I got.few calls.in to locals places. I need one without the insert needs to be plan.
