It's makes this noise at 1500-1700rpms. I hope it's not the valves, I don't think it is because it's only at a certain rpm. It might be the egr "uppipe" since it does have a egr delete not sure. Check it out

Maybe an under hood video would work better.. How many miles? I would say since I did a complete valvetrain upgrade along with some other stuff, My ticking engine is quieter. I never thought I had a problem to begin with as far as a tick sound but I did notice that with 145,000 miles, my rockers were SHOT! Probably why its quieter now.. Could be worth a look..

It only happens a certain those certain rpms....When you lay into it it goes away?? The truck has only 70k miles on it, and it was tuned and everything deleted at 59K. I am going see if i can rev it up in neutral at 1600 and hold it, and if it does it then I guess its the drivers side valve-train. I ll get back to you today.

I have the same problem especially cold is it louder and as it heats up it does get quieter and if I give it gas it goes away.

Wondering if for me it is loose valve guide area or rocker arm messed up.

Mine started last year going between Dallas and Pike Peak on a very hot day going about 80 with a load.
