Napa and as mentioned, it’s the 1/2 inch one.

Napa around here does not carry them. Advanced Auto Parts has them under the Lisle brand.

And you need that specific tool. It has to have the step in it. Another similar tool will not work. Learned the hard way.

The above Lisle tool broke on me. It’s a very thin plastic as needed for the step down design.
I’d recommend this tool if I was to do it again.

I was worried about that myself. I'm thinking they are a one time use thing at only $10. I really wouldn't be surprised if they came from the same production line as the Napa ones. Np markings on the tool itself, red plastic, and Made In The USA. Can't just be a coincidence.

Yes you are correct. That would be the correct one. My buddy who is a Ford Diesel tech told me the burnt orange one works but that is unconfirmed. This AST one is more than just one time use tool. Spend a few extra bucks if you plan on doing more than one flush.

Ok so I’ve watched the video. I’m not a mechanic but this seems doable, so...after you drain the pan and replace the filter.

1. You go ahead and replace the amount of fluid drained?

2. Once the fluid is added back after the drain. Do you add fluid as it empties out of the trans cooler? Need a 2nd person?

Last time i added the amount i took out then removed the line and had the wife start the truck. Then i added how much came out when i had the line off. Finally went for a test drive, got the transmisson up to operating temp, then came back and checked level. I then added roughly 1/2 quart to be up to the correct level.

Turn truck on and let it purge until you see fresh red trans oil.

It doesnt empty. It will go down about 2 to 3 quarts if i remember right. No need to have someone else pouring fluid in while it idles. It is completley ok. Just watch the video and follow it and you will come out great. Thats what i did.

Right but he’s draining into a pan that isn’t marked by quarts. I wasn’t sure how your supposed to know how much was pumped out. Just don’t want to fubar anything.

Well **** guys never mind. I’m not a damn mechanic. I’m just trying to do **** right. I’m not trying to get on folks nerves. I’m sure this comes easy to some people. I just want to be sure.

When I did it, I just basically added until it was full. I added two quarts after I drained the cooler since I had already topped it up after draining and changing the filter in the pan. I ran the truck for a few Miles around town and when I got back, just topped it off until it was full, while making sure it was up to temp too for fluid expansion..

So I completed the flush today. No issues other than my torque wrench sucks. I ended up making a 5 gallon bucket with quart marks on it so when I drain from the cooler I know exactly how much came out. I used 16.5 quarts total. Total fluid drained was just above 15 quarts. It was 1/2 quart low to start. I used the plastic trans line tool with no issues. Pan was spotless, no metal at all. All in all, not a hard job for the non-experienced. Shifts are smooth. I appreciate everyone’s help. Here’s a tip I found helpful: turn a empty bottle upside down to hold the funnel for you. See pics:

Looks to be a decent amount of clutch material on the magnet....

It had a lite coating of material on it. Mainly just on one side. The other side was relatively clean. So is this something I should be concerned about??

Dont be scared. Just be aware. And hopefully you cleaned it off. All transmissions will wear with use.
