tuner help

I am the 3rd owner of a 2012 King Ranch that was deleted by prior owners. I don't really like the wide open tune they have on it all the time{no SOF}. I would like a different tuner like the Mini Maxx.
My question is do I need to get it flashed back to stock before I add the mini maxx. Or can I just install the tuner. I want something with a SOF so I can adjust when I want alot and when I want a little.
If it has to be flashed first, is that something a stealership would do. Or would they frown on the delete kit.

I would flash it stock and forget the mini max, there’s zero support for them now. But I can help you with the sct route or ez with sotf
There are new Mini Maxx v2 tuners on the market with support. They have tunes now for up to 2019 model year 6.7 powerstrokes. They are being sold in Canada.

I too would go with ez. Several good tuners out for them, and most will have some sort of “stock” tune you can load on. So you won’t need to have it flashed.

They’re not genuine minis like the old style, but to each their own. There’s only 2 tried and true options, but that’s just my .02
No custom tunes can be had for the new mini maxx. They do work good if Al's you want is the weight loss. Nothing custom. Off the shelf they work great.

When the time comes, I'll need or want EZ.

But knowing h and s and the crap the epa started how are the minis even being sold? I thought they were knock offs? Cowboy when you’re ready let me know and I’ll hook you up. I prefer the sct and ez platforms for simplicity and support. If budget is what someone wants then sct is the best tried and true option, if budget is no issue and you want the best platform with the best tunes, then ez is the way to go.

I've always felt they were knock offs as well. But, they have been updating them with tunes for the newer engines. The old mini stopped at 14 for the 6.7, these go to 19, and they are working on the newer ones. They also keep putting out revisions and updated tunes for the currently supported year ranges.

SCT has very little to no support as well... the -P units are getting hard to find and if they've been updated they no longer support weight loss.

Other forums I frequent are full of H&S V2 issues.

Any of the MM V2 are Bully Dog GT units with hacked firmware and SW.

Circa 2015 this was a low(er) risk proposition as H&S bought/licensed the HW and source code from Bully Dog for the original Mini Maxx.
Never did it myself, but there were people brute forcing the H&S SW and tunes to the devices (with mixed results).

Add 9yrs (holy chit, that is a long time), a merger between SCT and Bully Dog, Bully Dog adopting SCT base software and any number of HW / firmware update - and I'm surprised they are even working with canned tunes.

My guess is one would have a more stable platform by purchasing a Bully Dog GT and loading SCT tunes, but toons and deretes are illegal so I'll probably never know...

If you’re in a 6.7, load the hot tune and rock on. It’s all in your driving habits. I personally leave my 6.7 turned all the way up and just drive accordingly. Plus it gets the best mpg on the high setting. Just need some good tunes and you’ll be fine

You're telling me he needs a sotf to use his cruise control?
Depending on the load and terrain a hot tune gives to much fuel plus keeps it locked in OD longer. Things get hot if the throttle is not controlled. You can't control it with the cruise set. A lower hp tune negates that fact.

Sotf fly tunes make it easy. Bump it up if you want, or turn it down if you need to for the way the pickup is being run.

Depends on who wrote the tune, really. To each his own.
