Okay got my 6.4 drove from Dallas to Amarillo and the D-side uppipe blew I'm a holiday day inn express in Amarillo and need to drive to California early Tomorrow morning and it runs at 800-1350 EGT. I need to know if I can drive it to California Tomorrow starting at 3am. Truck is on h&s no power tune I don't have the tuner but I have my dually DashDaq to monitor idle RP at 5000 so I'm guesting that's a stock tune truck has a egr delete. What appears to be a larger atmo. It had a loud turbo whistle before the pipe blew(like a towpower. X whistle) ( it's also powder coat black). It also had A ton of power so I know it has something done to it. but man even with the blown up pipe that thing still hauls a** LOL. it has 250,000 miles. Bought it from a dealer in Dallas any more questions just ask its a job 2. 08 thanks in advance. Sorry this was typed on a iphone. It also made 40 PSI instant at little more than half throttle and was hoping it's going to last to California and have it fixed when it gets back home in hawaii. What you guys think?

how do you know its the up pipe? you can see soot ? not sure i'd drive it that far.. you could have the up-pipe completely let go.. i would look for a decent shop near amarillo first. if you can , post pics of it under the hood.

Yeah mike it pours soot under the hood when throttled. I have two 6.4's I have this one and I have the larait I was talking about. I was hoping I could tow it to Cali with the other 6.4 but u haul doesn't open on Sunday over here.

oh man ... id say go for it, but thats me. thats alot of heat added under the hood. BUMMER !! but on the bright side, maybe you got a bunch of cool go fast stuff out of the deal !! hopefully you arent rushing to meet the boat !! that up pipe is a whore to replace in the truck. one thing to consider, but corbin shipping is picking up a truck for me in oklahoma on monday -tuesday .. he may have room for it ?

I don't think I would drive it that far with that hot of egt's. I would call Corb also and see what he could do for ya. It may cost you some more money now but save you some serious money in the long run.

Stupid question, but does it still have the egr downpipe on it? Mine did and blew that pipe at the bellows. If that happened you can move that block off plate to behind the turbos and get home.

Is it the up pipe or the egr crossover pipe? I'd be careful if it were an uppipe, there is a chance you could damage your turbos if it completely lets go.

I've seen a huge F550 service truck that had a completely blown driver side up pipe that had been running hard for the previous 6 months. They couldn't afford the down time on the truck. I couldn't believe it didn't tear anything up.

I know a guy that bought an lbz with compounds, injectors etc. And it didn't have a towing tune on it. He towed his 44 ft toy hauler 12 hours on a tune that made 713 hp. Said egts never went under 1200. Lit the insulation on the firewall on fire twice and they had to pull over to put it out. They are smart to say the least, can't believe the stock lbz pistons didn't crack. Just an inspirational story to help you on your journey LOL.

good for you buddy. looks like you're gonna make it.

Hey Mike I made it to cali I just got back in Hawaii and the two 6.4's are getting shipped tomorrow should be here in a week and a half.

The one with the blown D-side uppipe averaged 900-1200 at 50-70 MPH drove it blown from Amarillo to San Bernardino going through NM and Arizona.

The other 6.4 runs perfect

Both truck have 250,000 miles on them.

The lariat is going to get your special "go fast parts" touch later on LOL.
