So today I'm driving my sig truck. I have brakes, then the next time that I push the pedal its hard as rock. I still have brakes but have to push till my leg is about shaking to stop. Y'all think this is the vacuum pump, or something else? Thanks in advance

Yep... Just happened to me last week on the freeway.
Part here was bout 100 bucks plus. At least that is what it sounds like
because the way you are describing the problem is exactly what mine did.

That I can't answer because I did some bartering with my mechanic.
I built an addition on to his garage and he is doing some wrenching
for me but I buy the parts. I think it's a sweet deal, cause he also does
hydraulics and he is putting on a remote for me. But back to your
problem like I said it sounds like the vacuum pump because last week
I had the same thing happen to me and he stated it was the
pump.

Got a question for you. I'm not the sharpest tack in the pack
about computers, but I've been on this site for almost a year
and I don't know what advances a person from private to corporal
to Sargent etc. you know. I know it sounds stupid and it might
be a stupid question but I think i'm asking it correctly.

Thanks sounds like I'm off to O'reilly

Don't do that you'll change it again in 6 months. Buy Ford as it is the only pump that lasts. Trust me I had to wait on the side of the road when my new pump went out.

The Ford one has been on over 3 years now and I will never again buy remanded parts ever!

No choice today have to have my truck back up and running tonight. I'm usually about about using OEM parts but can't have the truck down until tomorrow.

You also need a powersteering pump pulley remover and installer. They usually rent them but that tool is worth owning.

Be sure to put the mounting bolts into the vacuum pump before re-installing the pulley, otherwise you can't get them back in if you install the pulley first.

great advice !! nothing is more frustrating then tearing it all back apart just for the bolts!
