Looks like burnt bubbly oil. White smoke caused this. The turbo spins freely by hand, no binding. No shaft play.

Yea I'd say a turbo seal is going bad, what's the inside of the intercooler pipes look like? Pull the boot at turbo and check it out.... Is it giving a constant white haze?

If there is no shaft play then the turbo may not be bad. White smoke could be a lot of different things.

Poss CCV problem, injector?
