Drivers side inner frame rail.
Part of the brake system…
Electrical plug in the back and rear brake lines go through it.

I’d like to replace it while I’m in here

Thanks

That’s the rabs valve. Rear abs valve.

ABS ?
On the rear only?

Hmmm, I bought this truck new and wasn’t even aware it had ABS in the rear.

Question:
Can this be bypassed?

Its a 1995

I’m thinking if I keep it in place and plugged in/maybe plug the holes

The computer won’t know the difference

Yeah a lot of guys bypass it cause it was prone to cause a soft pedal. They would bypass internally and feel like a bad master cylinder

I’m not following

Are you saying if you bypass it internally,

It will make it feel like a bad master cylinder?

No, when they go bad they bypass internally and cause a soft pedal. If you bypass it externally there will be no issues. So if you disconnect the lines and put a junction to connect them and then bleed the brakes, it will be all good.

Ok gotcha.

My plan is to leave it in place,
Plug the 2 ports.

And run a new line from the master to the rear brakes.

Just remove it, along with the abs light bulb....

It’s not hurting anything sitting there.

And if leaving it plugged in doesn’t trip the light, that means I don’t have to take the dash apart looking for the stupid ABS bulb.

But if it decides to throw the light anyway…. I guess I will have to look for the bulb.

That’s a ways off anyway

True. Looks like it's halfway to rusting off anyways.
It would be hard to find nowadays, but the F-SuperDuty had a bypass from the factory.

What all are you doing to the truck?
Off topic but just curious.

Oil pan
Exhaust manifolds
Rebuilding turbo
Valve cover gaskets
Hydra
4” lift
New cab mount supports
All new braided SS brake lines
New vinyl floor mat
New shifter boots
New steering box (blue top)
New tie rod ends etc.
Ball joints
New bumpers when I find them.

Probably forgot a few things but
That’s the most of it.
Oh, Borgensen steering shaft too

Let me know what you think of the blue top steering box.

I love it.

Before I did all this work ,
The truck would wander from left to right going down the road.

It's hard to say exactly what fixed the problem but probably everything.

The blue top steering box and the borgeson shaft are probably the main things
Along with all new linkage components

Anyway I am very very happy.
