windshield wipers mind of their own

The windshield wipers in my 2005 F350 come on every morning or every cold start and stay on for about five minutes. .no set speed, they will go fast and then slow down then stop and go again. .I'm hoping this is simple like a multifunction switch. Anyone have a similar experience with a know fix?

It's just odd that it only happens when cold and only lasts for about five minutes.

I agree, but everytime i have seen a super duty have weird issues with windshield wipers, it has been a multifunction switch.

Replaced the multifunction switch. . Still doing it. .

Found this problem, the wire harness that runs behind the coolant reservoir had been rubbing and chaffing. Couple wires were bare and touching each other. All fixed

Good find. That sucks the multifunction switch didn't take care of it, but they do go bad with time, and i have definitely seen them cause issues making the wipers stay on. They also can get corroded internally and cause issues.
