Alright so my 99 has X-codes up front and 350 blocks in the rear i also have a set of bilstein shocks up front (longer than stock i think.) Im running a 35" tire and plan to keep it that way. The truck rides like **** and has for the last 3 years.. Im tired of it. I remember hearing about shackles softening up the ride but didn't care back then. I would like to hear some AFFORDABLE option to softening up the ride tremendously and keeping 35's. Also DIY anything is not a problem as i have access to water jet/welder etc. so i f anyone has any drawings for shackles etc. lmk

Also i boost launch this truck at least once a month.. its got some nuts so whatever i do needs to be able to hold up to an occasional beating

So what exactly do you have for suspension. Front? Back?

35s is prett vague as a stock size wheel and a 35 will fit a stock superduty. 10 or 12 wide wheels?

Im on a 6" lift and Im ready to do just what you are. That was the reason for my questions. Id like to do stock springs and a block in the rear (perhaps a traction block/bar setup) and whatever springs I need in front to keep it level or slightly raked and clear my 35x12.5s. Im leaning towards stock springs so when these 35s wear out I can run a 33x12 or 13.5.

Good thread! Havent heard from ya in a while!

What's up tycorr it's been awhile. I got the truck running tits so i havent been messing with the motor AT ALL. Ive been tied up with a Twin Turbo LS3 77' datsun 280Z build.. Asfar as the truck is concerned the front leafs are X codes the rear springs are 250 and the blocks are 350's it has some cheap ****ty rancho shocks for the rear but thats an easy fix. The tires are 315/75/16 on a 10" rim. The easy fix in my head was a set of shackles for the fornt and some factory leafs.. im open to options though.

Oh and here is a pic of what takes all of my time these days. All done in the garage.. ive come along way from asking stupid question on here lol!

That car is badass.

You got pictures of how it sits? From the side and maybe down the side?

I was thiiiiinking I could use stock one ton suspension and clear these 35x12.5s on 20x12s as guys are running 33 13.5 on 20x12 on bone stock 3/4 ton suspension.

I have a 6" lift and its getting old. Both agewise and in use. Ready for a stockish, leveled setup.

Yup, 5 leafs with bilsteins 5100's. 350 blocks out back

Well....those must be aftermarket springs then. My X-codes are 2 leaf Ford springs.

No wonder you hate them, must ride like a rough-country lift, lol

Well Isn't that just great..

LOL, sorry man! I was wondering why you hated them so much!

*edit*

If you'd like that "softer" ride, I'll help by trading my slightly rusted stock shocks for those blistiens with you!

I'm just a nice guy like that.

I wonder what my truck had on it then? I got it new but I remember 3 leaves not counting the overloads. My truck is goofy. Its a ccsb 250 but had larger blocks, overloads, and two shocks in the front, not to overlook the dual alternators. Was it built for something specific? Or just seriously fortified for towing/plowing? As it has done both alot and without detriment to the vehicle.

Its just odd is all. Of course the suspension was ditched after only a few months. Same 6" lift going on 14 years with only a few bolts and TONS of shocks been replaced. Ive got six just damping the front end.

Try some v code springs up front with some 2 or 3 inch hangers. You may have to adjust the block size in the rear to level it back out.
I had v codes with a 3.5 inch Fabtech hanger kit in the front, with b code springs and 5 inch blocks in the rear. The truck rode nice and cleared 35x12.50 SSR Swampers on 12" wide wheels just fine. It was almost a little too soft for my liking.

Yea those are not X codes,
I just did X codes and a hanger lift with new Icon shocks all the around. Not cheap all up front but its the best ride I have had on this truck "new shocks not pictured here"
Might want to try new shocks first
Here's the X code springs

Visually looks a little tall but its level, this a 4.5" full traction with X code springs

So a darn 4" lift is needed to clear a 35 on a wide rim? Im looking at that and it appears to be kinda tall. Stock trucks will clear a 33 on just about any wheel other than maybe a 14"+, a leveled truck will clear about the same as my buddy has 35x12.5s on stock wheels and it RUUUUBS!.

Im literally looking for just enough lift that my truck will function and clear my 35x12.5/20x12 combo. I need like a 3" lift, lol.

That truck looks so good man! I love the black two tone. Awesome.

Im taller than a 4" technically, and it has PLENTY of room for 35s but I only have 10" wide wheels too
Thanks for the compliments, the BMFs set it off.
More whoring of the truck

I have X-codes and a 2" mini spring pack Ty, and once I pulled the plastic fenders back i have no rubbing. (Also did an adjustable track bar.)

Running 315-75R16 on 16x10" wheels.

So that is stock one ton suspension with a 2" minipack in front? And no rubbing. Think you could clear a 12" wheel or is it close?

Rear is 100% stock. Front is just a Custom Diesel mini-spring pack (4 graduated mini-leafs), X-codes, and a adjustable track bar.

I have since that pic added fender flares, and even with the flares on it still clears by ~.75" in the back. The only time I get rubbing it at full lock while plowing with a 850lb plow on the front, even then it was minimal.

As far as 12" wheel....the wild card here I'd guess is the off-set. I'm not sure what the off set on mine are as I got them used.
