XL lights are horrible!

The question I have is the truck that is pictured above has the base model xl sealed beam headlights, even with the brightest bulbs available the light output is mediocre at best and am constantly replacing bulbs, every 6 months or so and these sealed beam silverstars are like 30 some bucks a piece.
How hard is it to convert my headlights over to same year xlt and above style or to go with some sort of aftermarket style of headlight assembly? Has anybody done this?
Any and all advice or opinions would be appreciated, Thank You.

Thats correct, just did a set on my dads 03 last week... Plugs even match

There is a short conversion plug that you remove and it plugs right in.
