hey guys im running a 3.5 inch mbrp downpipe to a 5 inch straight pipe that i believe to be home made. i was wondering how to make the truck sound deeper. it sounds good at idle but at 3000rpm it sounds like a ricer. maybe a bigger downpipe or a tip?

4" DP will help a lil and 5" as far forward as you can get it to the DP. My 5" duals are about the deepest I've heard a 6.0 sound in person. A bigger sized tip seams to help I think also.

You are going to be disappointed. You will shell out a lot of money for not much of a difference.

I have 4" from the turbo to the dump and its as loud and almost as deep as the 5" trucks I have heard. You already have 5" at the ends. Thats what makes the tone.

A large tip might give it more echo/tone.

Honestly I think any bigger than an 8" looks trash cannish. I see cummins all the time with stock exhaust straight piped, with like a 10" tip, that looks stupid. Its not all about looks either, tips change the sound quite a bit

I noticed a pretty good difference in the sound when I went for the stock down pipe to a 4 inch with my 5 inch exhaust. It made it quieter and gave it a deeper tone.

I have a 5in dp and 5in exhaust with an 8in tip. It sounds bad azz at idle, and all the way through the throttle positions.
