    Batteries not holding charge.

So let me explain the reason for the recommended test..... You need to know if the starter and the electrical system are working well enough to start. If they are, then you could have an issue that is causing the PCM to NOT send the proper signals (grounds) to the starter relay and/or the fuel...

    Batteries not holding charge.

I would also like to know if the starter solenoid wire under the hood would crank the engine when jumpered to the passenger side battery (+) terminal. With or without the key in the "on" position. To crank w/ the starter solenoid wire jumpered to battery positive - disconnect starter solenoid...

    Batteries not holding charge.

I see you said it was a truck, so I am assuming it is an F-series? Has it been checked for parasitic current after the engine has been turned off? Also, the alternator charging is initiated from a voltage signal from the instrument cluster. Is the alternator connector in good shape and same...

What are you using to access live data and check for codes? Not all scan tools will read all of the control modules.

Here's a potential stumper for you.

I have done a few oil analysis with the stiction additive in my oil (only out of curiosity). While it does SLIGHTLY impact viscosity (maybe 1 percent), it is not a significant impact. It has detergents in it as the primary "active" ingredients. I have 230k miles on my original injectors and...

    Unsure about a glowplug issue

Sorry, I don't recall which ones do and which ones don't. It was in a TSB, but I don;t recall the number.

    Unsure about a glowplug issue

There is a PCM software version that intentionally "cycles" the inlet guide vanes to the turbo for a bit after start up. It is to prevent these vanes from getting stuck. Maybe that is all that it is with the "hunting idle"! Glad the GPCM has resolved your cold starting issues.

    Unsure about a glowplug issue

Just an fyi - the Motorcraft packaging and labels can be faked as well. The ability to provide counterfeit parts that look like the original in every way is quite remarkable. Not saying yours is or isn't, but buying off of Amazon significantly increases the odds for it being counterfeit.

    Unsure about a glowplug issue

More often than not, if you have all 8 glow plug codes, the issue is the control module.

Have you tried a known good FICM? What is the cranking v-ref voltage?

    Stumped by no start

Did you include the EBP sensor in the "disconnect testing"? The accelerator pedal has a v-reference circuit also. Since some v-reference instrumentation can't be disconnected, can you capture the v-reference voltage to a file (ie get more than a snapshot view of the voltage)?

    Stumped by no start

Any results on the v-reference sensor test? What are you using to check for codes? Do you have a known good FICM to try?

    Can heater question.

You need to get a scan tool that reads the engine parameter data to get an actual coolant temperature. The dash gauge is useless. Several good phone apps - ForScan and Torque Pro You should also consider installing a pressure gauge on the coolant system. You can "tee in" a gauge on one of...
