Main cap walking/fretting on stock tune.

..depends on the block. were your block bores measured with & without a torque plate installed to see what kind of flex your block has? we see quite a big difference from 'a' block to 'another' block... the super flexy ones go to scrap...the acceptable ones are used for stock-ish power...

    7.3 intermitent engine shake

each injector has two 'sides'... the fuel side (plunger & barrel assembly, nozzle, needle, etc.) and an OIL side...(solenoid/armature relationship, poppet valve, etc) if the fuel side is damaged....adding chit to the fuel system isn't going to repair anything... if the OIL side (poppet...

    7.3 intermitent engine shake

Unplugging the ICP sensor defaults the PCM to a static injector pulsewidth and ICP pressure (ICP pressure would 'read' 725psi on a scantool...but with the sensor unplugged, that's a bogus number). the higher (725-ish) ICP pressure can make an injector (that may have a damaged/leaking plunger...

    No good deed goes unpunished

might want to run a compression test (on the other cyls) since it sounds like it's been so poorly maintained... no reason to waste any (more) time on it unless the compression is decent.

    2015 lag vs 2014

in the short time I've had my '15, I think the 'turbo lag' may be more in the function of the transmission shift strategy. It definitely runs up through the gears quick...simply tuning a different trans shift strategy would almost certainly add 'boost' without touching the fueling tables...

7.3 obs or SD, or just go up to 6.0?

7.3L, or 6.4L the 6.0L will be a serious, potentially very expensive, gamble. We do about 100 trucks/month in our shop (not incl parts sold/shipped)..and the majority of trucks needing repair (not upgrading for more performance) are the 6.0L..by a mile. there are enough horror stories out...

ticking!?!?!?! push rod? piston rod? help!!!!!!!!!

primarily the 6.4 (and 6.0L) PMR rods were engineered to be made from powdered metal from the get-go... Whoever decided to switch the 7.3L rods from forged to PMR had to 'engineer' the new (PMR) rod to still clear/fit all the other rotating and reciprocating components inside the block..not to...

    Another 6.4 down.

unfortunately...it sounds wayyy more internal than an injector nozzle. a nozzle hung open would be abso-fricken-lutely be blowing a fuk ton of white smoke out the exhaust...and the knock would be much more sharp sounding. that's a deep/clunking sound...if I was guessing, & knowing it's a...

    Another 6.4 down.

yes, horribly...annnd white smoke if the injector is seated (copper washer seated/crushed)...then the next most likely culprit would be the nozzle on the inj itself (dribbling fuel into the cylinder alllll the time).
  18. G

    Another 6.4 down.

probably didn't get an injector seated down all the way into the cup... check for carbon on the nozzle body (above the nozzle crush/sealing washer)..
